Europen Aerosol Conference 2017, August 27 - September 1 2017, Zurich, Switzerland

Travel information:

Zurich is easily accessible by airplane, train or car.

By airplane via Zurich Airport (ZRH, Zürich-Kloten):
How to get to the city: Zurich Airport is connected to the downtown area by public transportation system as well as by Limousine or Shuttle Service. Travel from the airport to the City Center is very simple. We recommend using public transportation, as taxis are expensive in Switzerland (from the airport to the city center you easily pay 50-150 CHF depending on the fare you get). Trains to Zurich main station (Zürich HB) leave every couple of minutes and it is about 10 minutes travel time (price: 6.80 CHF single fare, no reduction). For the timetable from Zurich Airport (Zürich Flughafen) to Zurich main station (Zürich HB) see https://www.zurich-airport.com/passengers-and-visitors/access-and-parking/swiss-federal-railways or http://www.sbb.ch. The Swiss Federal Railways also offer an app for iOS and Android: http://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/sbb-app.html, including time tables, ticket purchase etc. Please make sure you have your ticket before entering the train, to avoid fines. There are ticket machines directly in the arrival halls 1 and 2, and also at the railway station in the hall above the platforms (along with ticket counters), they accept cash and cards.

By railway:
Zurich is connected to the international railway network and can be reached from many European cities in reasonable time. The main station is Zürich HB (Zürich Hauptbahnhof). For connections and general information see the webpage of the Swiss national railways: https://www.sbb.ch/en/.

By car
Zurich is directly connected to the national highways. If using Swiss highways, make sure to have the motorway sticker (Autobahnvignette) (https://www.ch.ch/en/swiss-motorway-sticker/). Generally, parking spaces in central Zurich may be difficult to find and restricted in time (see https://www.zuerich.com/en/visit/parking-zurich). We generally do not recommend commuting by car to the conference venue from outside Zurich, as the roads are very congested during rush hours and you will lose a lot of time. For more information on parking possibilities at the conference venue see “How to reach the conference venue”.

Local transport :
Upon arrival at Zurich main station, find a blue ticket machine to buy your ticket for tram or bus to get to your hotel. (https://www.zuerich.com/en/visit/public-transport). They usually are located directly at the tram stops. You also can buy your ticket via app: http://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/service/apps/ticket-app.html. Please note that there is no possibility of buying tickets in the tram or bus. If you directly proceed to the conference registration upon your arrival, see “How to reach the conference venue”.

At the conference registration desk, registered participants will get a travel pass that is valid for the entire week (Sunday to Friday) and the Zurich central area (“ZONE 110”; zones map: http://www.zvv.ch/zvv-assets/abos-und-tickets/zonen/tarifzonen_d_e_16.pdf )

How to reach the conference venue:
The conference venue is University Zürich Campus Irchel: It can readily be reached from many places in Zurich (~10-15 minutes from City centre): https://goo.gl/maps/rCw6pvhWrBQ2. From the tram stops you reach the conference building after a short walk (200 m) through a nice park.
